President Barack Obama announced the new ConnectALL initiative, which aims to ensure broadband parity for Americans all income levels. The American Telemedicine Association has vocally supported the initiative for the positive impact it could have on telemedicine services.
The first step of ConnectALL will push the Federal Trade Commission to extend its phone subsidy program coverage to include the internet.
"The expansion of affordable broadband will further solidify the rapidly growing telemedicine sector, which is transforming the healthcare paradigm," said Jonathan Linkous, CEO of the American Telemedicine Association. "This initiative helps to deliver the promise of more cost-effective healthcare delivery models and promotes the expansion of telehealth services for all."
