Amazon reaches $1 trillion valuation after strong Q4 earnings

After Amazon reported revenue growth of more than 20 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019 in a Jan. 30 earnings release, the company's market cap surpassed $1 trillion, CNBC reports.

The last time Amazon reached a $1 trillion valuation was in September 2018, according to CNBC. In crossing the threshold once again, the tech giant joins peers Alphabet, Apple and Microsoft in the $1 trillion club.

Amazon's impressive fourth-quarter earnings were led by huge growth in revenues from the Amazon Web Services cloud platform. AWS saw a 34 percent year-over-year increase for the quarter, and a 37 percent increase for the year.
