AMA, Boston Children's + more urge ONC to prioritize patient-generated data

A coalition of healthcare industry stakeholders wrote a letter to the ONC and other policymakers, urging them to adopt frameworks that encourage mobile health innovation and keeping sensitive health data secure.

The letter, published April 30 by The Connected Health Initiative, which includes Boston Children's Hospital, Washington, D.C.-based George Washington Hospital and the American Medical Association, strongly encouraged the ONC to ensure their efforts prioritized data generated by patients outside the traditional care setting.

The group also said that patient-generated health data has the potential to reduce costs and stated that there needs to be a priority on the interoperable exchange of health information throughout the care continuum.
