Allscripts reported a net loss of $22.9 million in the quarter ended June 30. The company's total revenue dropped 7 percent to $344.8 million compared with the second quarter of 2012.
However, the company reported bookings valued at $214.1 million, the highest level in six quarters. Allscripts defined bookings as "the value of executed contracts for software, hardware, professional services, remote hosting, outsourcing and [software as a service]."
"We achieved important milestones this quarter that strengthen Allscripts long-term market position," said Paul M. Black, president and CEO of Allscripts, in the news release. "While we have important work ahead of us to return Allscripts to sustainable, predictable top-line growth and improved profitability, this quarter's achievements are certainly encouraging."
