The Alliance for Nursing Informatics has pledged to support the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology's Consumer eHealth Program, according to an ANI news release (pdf).
ANI plans to support the program in the following four ways:
1. Coordinate a campaign with national nursing organizations to promote consumer use of personal health records and other health IT resources.
2. Share resources through the ANI website about the value of consumer engagement through health IT to partner with health providers to improve health outcomes.
3. Increase consumer access to PHRs to 15 percent within 12 months and 25 percent within 24 months.
4. Encourage health employers to prioritize use of PHRs and consumer portals for improving access to healthcare and engaging consumers in managing their health.
