Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network has launched a new Leadership in Digital Health Initiative, backed by a $133,000 grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
One of the Leadership in Digital Health Initiative's first projects is the AHN Chip Challenge. The competition asks application developers and IT professionals to design a wearable device or app that allows patients to scan updated health information into Allegheny's EHR system.
Another Leadership in Digital Health Initiative focus is telemedicine. Allegheny plans to develop a digital health and informatics education program for emergency medicine residents, including a graduate medical education course for residents, physicians and mid-level providers.
