The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has set aside special funds this year to support research that examines the safety impacts of electronic health records.
The research funding will come from the $4 million recently added to the AHRQ's budget by Congress in recognition of the agency's importance in the healthcare industry.
The AHRQ is especially interested in projects that focus on post-implementation safety testing for EHRs, EHR-related patient safety risks, EHR system integrity and other topics.
