AHA launches MACRA implementation tool

The American Hospital Association has created tool to help hospitals and providers prepare for MACRA compliance.

The AHA's MACRA Tracker seeks to help hospitals prioritize activities and resources as they prepare for MACRA. The tracker outlines elements of the proposed rule that are likely and unlikely to proceed, thereby identifying what hospitals should focus on now to be better prepared for the Jan. 1 proposed start date of the program.

For example, the tracker indicates CMS is unlikely to change the MACRA start date or the requirement of using 2014 or 2015 certified EHR technology, so it suggests providers move forward with implementing necessary initiatives to be compliant with these elements. Pieces of the policy that may be changed include changes to the quality measure set, additional alternative payment models and the shortening of reporting periods. As these changes may occur, the MACRA tracker indicates providers may want to be cautious before devoting time and resources to these initiatives.

The AHA plans to introduce additional tools in the coming weeks, as well as a final analysis of the final rule once it is released.
