Advantage Dental, a dental group based with clinics across western Oregon, notified 151,626 patients that their data may have been compromised in a recent data breach.
The breach, which occurred between Feb. 23 and Feb. 26, 2015, was due to a third party illegally accessing its databases. The intruder was able to access the database through malware installed on one of the computers. The information compromised included names, dates of birth, phone numbers, Social Security numbers and home addresses, according to a news release.
Advantage Dental will offer credit monitoring through Experian to patients whose data may have been compromised. The group is planning to update its systems and improve security, according to the news release.
