Even though hospitals and health systems are facing financial headwinds, 88 percent of health system leaders say they will increase third-party tech spending in 2023 and 2024.
Tech advisory firm IDC and Redox posted a survey July 18 analyzing insights of 205 IT executives at U.S.-based healthcare organizations and found the following:
- Digital transformation was reported as IT executives' most important goal of the year, and third-party tech spending was tied to achieving that goal.
- Executives plan to use digital technologies to "cut waste out of their operations," according to the survey.
- Forty-three percent of respondents said vendors that don't have knowledge in clinical workflows won't be considered.
- Forty-seven percent of executives said automation will be a key benefit when deploying new technology.
- Forty-two percent said new technology will help lower costs.
