Midwestern hospitals are generally the most prepared for meaningful use stage 2, according to research recently conducted by electronic health record vendor Practice Fusion using data from CMS and the Kaiser Family Foundation.
The following eight states are the most ready for stage 2, based on the percent of providers who have successfully achieved stage 1 and are working on stage 2 preparations. (Nationally, 25 percent of hospitals are on track to attest to stage 2.)
- South Dakota (51 percent)
- New Hampshire (43 percent)
- Minnesota (41 percent)
- Wisconsin (39 percent)
- Iowa (38 percent)
- Kansas (31 percent)
- Utah (31 percent)
- Oregon (31 percent)
