Worldwide, more than 7 million patients will use telehealth by 2018, according to a report from IHS Technology.
Less than half a million patients currently use telehealth, according to the report. The large increase in usage will result in an increase in telehealth revenue, from $440.6 million in 2013 to an estimated $4.5 billion in 2018.
The growth will be spurred by regulatory changes that are pushing healthcare organizations to value-based models, as well as an increase in available technology.
