7 most valuable health tech startups that failed in 2018

Healthcare technology startups took a big hit in 2018, according to Business Insider.

Business Insider reviewed data from venture capital, private equity and mergers and acquisitions database company PitchBook to compile a list of the 25 most valuable venture capital-backed startups that shuttered in 2018. The healthcare industry was well represented on the list, accounting for seven of the 25 startups.

Here are the seven most valuable healthcare technology startups that failed in 2018:

1. Theranos: Blood-testing technology ($9 billion valuation)

8. Medical Simulation: Simulation products for medical training ($194 million valuation)

9. ReVision Optics: Surgical implants for vision loss ($183 million valuation)

12. Candescent Health: Radiology software ($145 million valuation)

13. Paieon: Medical imaging technology ($136 million valuation)

15. Winx: Sleep-therapy systems ($115 million valuation)

22. Claritas Genomics: Pediatric genetic testing ($60 million valuation)
