As of Dec. 2011, there are only 66 hospitals in the United States that have reached Stage 7 Electronic Medical Record Adoption, according to the most recent figures from HIMSS Analytics.
Stage 7, the highest and most advanced patient record level within HIMSS' EMR Adoption Model, means that a hospital has a completely installed EMR system, data warehousing and data continuity with the emergency department and other areas.
Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast was the most recent hospital and the first in Florida to receive the Stage 7 designation.
