6 Most Commonly Used EHR Features

A recent study in Annals of Internal Medicine reveals the most commonly used features of electronic health records by physicians:

1. Viewing laboratory results of drugs (80 percent)
2. Ordering prescriptions electronically (74 percent)
3. Recording clinical notes (67 percent)
4. Generating lists of patients by demographic criteria (34 percent)
5. Generating quality metrics (31 percent)
6. Providing patients with electronic copies of his or her health information (14 percent)

Researchers surveyed 1,820 primary care physicians from 2011 to 2012.
