5 Things to Know About the Computerized Physician Order Entry Systems Market

1. The global CPOE market is expected to be valued at $1.288 billion by 2018, growing 6.5 percent over five years. In 2013, the market was valued at $938.4 million.

2. The North American market is the largest in the world, expected to be valued at $771.2 million in 2018.

3. The Asian market is expected to grow the fastest in the world, at a compound annual growth rate of 6.9 percent. The Asian market is expected to be valued at $163.9 million in 2018, up from $117.3 million in 2013.

4. Much of the growth in the North American market can be attributed to federal government initiatives encouraging health systems to adopt more health IT practices. Elements prohibiting growth include cost and installation time of systems.

5. A Clinical Innovation + Technology report names Cerner, Allscripts, Epic, McKesson, GE Healthcare, Athenahealth, Meditech, Zynx Health and Emdeon as key players in the CPOE market.
