Health IT giant Cerner held its annual shareholders meeting Friday. Here are five takeaways from the meeting:
- In 2013, Cerner brought in $3.8 billion in new contract sales, a 20 percent increase over 2012, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
- Cerner executives told attendees the company has doubled the rate at which it wins new contracts for both hospitals and physician offices, according to the Kansas City Star.
- Cerner's international presence is expanding, according to the Journal. The company has at least one major client in Brazil and has solid footing in the Australian and Canadian markets as well.
- Interoperability will continue to be a focus of Cerner's, both through its products and government activity, according to the Journal. CEO Neil Patterson intends to use his new position on the Office of National Computing policy board to help advance the issue.
- Cerner will also focus more on population health services and consulting, according to the Star.
