The following health information exchange formations and expansions were announced in the past four weeks.
1. NJSHINE, a health information exchange serving seven counties in the southern part of New Jersey, and the New Jersey Health Information Technology Extension Center announced a partnership to bring more physicians into the data exchange efforts.
2. Blue Shield of California and Anthem Blue Cross announced a partnership to create one of the nation's largest health information exchanges. Once live, providers statewide will have access to more than 9 million patient records from the two insurers.
3. The North Carolina Health Information Exchange will extend its connectivity to skilled nursing facilities across the state.
4. Georgia Health Information Network, a statewide health information exchange, is now live on the national eHealth Exchange.
5. Allscripts' electronic health record platform can now be fully connected to Arkansas' statewide health information exchange program, State Health Alliance for Records Exchange.
