The following IT skills that do not require special certification are currently in high demand across many industries, according to a report in CIO magazine.
1. Big data analytics. In the next six months, the market value of big data analytics skills will increase almost 15 percent, according to the report. "This is a big one. While anything big data related is a hot skillset, analytics is really the spear-point of industry demand," Matt Ripaldi, senior vice president of IT staffing firm Modis, told CIO.
2. Business intelligence skills. The ability to turn data into actionable information that can further business objectives will continue to be in demand, according to the report. The market value of business intelligence skills is expected to increase 8.3 percent over the next six months.
3. Data architecture. As the amount of data companies have grows, so will demand for IT professionals who are able to build and refine data architecture. CIO expects the market value of this skill to increase more than 20 percent in the next six months.
4. Mobile app development. The demand for IT staff that can create mobile apps is on the rise, according to the report. The market value of this skill is expected to increase 9.1 percent over the next year.
5. Mobile security. As "bring your own device" policies proliferate, companies have an increased demand for mobile security. Market value for this skill set is expected to jump 10 percent in the next six months, according to the report.
