At the 2014 CHIME/HIMSS CIO Forum Sunday in Orlando, Fla., the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives announced five new initiatives to improve educational services and partnership opportunities for members.
Two specialized educational programs will be offered through partnerships with both the Association of Medical Directors of Information Systems and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, based on CHIME's popular Healthcare CIO Boot Camp. CHIME will also reinstate its LEAD Forums, one-day regional programs on a variety of topics, in addition to expanded online courses and resources.
In an effort to provide support to executives who work closely with CIOs, CHIME is developing resources for chief security officers, CTOs and chief application officers. "High-level educational and development opportunities for key members of the CIO's executive team are seriously lacking… it has become increasing clear that this group could greatly benefit from the kind of opportunities that CHIME provides CIOs," said CHIME Board Chair Randy McCleese, CIO of St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Ky., in a news release.
CHIME is also launching CIO Advisory Boards, to offer support to health IT companies. Additionally, a new Speakers Bureau will match qualified speakers with organizations that make a request to CHIME for speaking services.
