The more priority is placed on telemedicine as a strategic initiative, the higher the rate of success with the program, according to a survey by REACH Health, a telemedicine software provider.
REACH Health's survey collected input from approximately 230 healthcare professionals regarding telemedicine program models and management structures. Survey participants were asked to indicate the level of success with certain telemedicine objectives. Here are the top five successes.
- Providing remote or rural patients with access to specialists: 68 percent
- Providing 24/7 access to specialists: 63 percent
- Improving patient outcomes and satisfaction: 54 percent
- Improving leverage of physician resources: 45 percent
- Providing access to new specialties: 37 percent
