Two regional health information exchanges in New York state plan to join into a single regional health information organization.
The Southern Tier Healthlink and Taconic Health Information Network and Community plan to become one qualified entity called HealthlinkNY. The new exchange platform will cover 11 counties in the region.
The merger of these two HIEs is part of a larger operation to interconnect all the qualified entities in the state as part of the Statewide Health Information Network of New York.
"This merger will harness our individual strengths and combine them to transform and improve healthcare from the Southern Tier through the Hudson Valley," said Christina Galanis, executive director of STHL. "We are excited to consolidate our efforts and services with THINC to expand our technical and analytical expertise in both regions, support emerging population health reform and operate more efficiently."
The merger of STHL and THINC is still subject to review and approval.
