2 New York HIEs Announce Merger

The Brooklyn Health Information Exchange and Healthix, two New York-based HIEs have announced their merger, effective Dec. 1.

More than 400 provider organizations participate in the new Healthix, representing over 9 million patients throughout the greater New York City area. The merged HIE will also continue to further its relationship with the New York eHealth Collaborative to support the development of the State Health Information Network for New York.

For now, Healthix will maintain the existing Healthix and BHIX platforms, but will merge the platforms within the coming year. "Having a merged platform in the next year and unified policies for the HIE will expand the range of data available to participants, with the patient’s consent, and facilitate better patient care," said Tom Check, Healthix president and CEO, in a news release.
