Malware infection rates vary by state, according to a report by Enigma Software Group.
The company's research team gathered data based on malware infections detected by the company's anti-malware program, SpyHunter. The program found 1.5 million infections in the first half of 2017.
Here are the 10 states hit hardest by malware infections in the first half of 2017.
1. New Hampshire
2. Colorado
3. Virginia
4. New Jersey
5. Oregon
6. New York
7. Montana
8. Missouri
9. Arizona
10. Maine
"It's hard to tell exactly why some states have higher infection rates than others," said ESG spokesperson Ryan Gerding. "In the top five alone, you've got east coast and west coast states, highly populated states and sparsely populated ones."
