Ten hospitals in the Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System have reached stage 6 on the HIMSS Analytics EMR adoption model.
"BayCare's IT strategy has been focused on providing a better care environment for our patients through meaningful information," said BayCare Vice President and CIO Timothy Thompson. "This recognition by HIMSS validates our leadership position in IT, not just in Florida but across the U.S. Our achievement enables us to offer healthcare providers better access to important health information. It also puts relevant information at our patients' fingertips through the MyBayCare.org portal."
The system's 10 hospitals join just three others in the region that have reached stage 6.
Since 2005, HIMSS Analytics' EMR Adoption Model has tracked electronic medical record adoption in hospitals and health systems throughout the country. To date, 834 hospitals have reached the penultimate stage 6.
