This week marks the occurrence of a twice-a-year event taking place in many cities across the globe: Social Media Week.
During Social Media Week, host cities, which include 25-plus cities throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia, oversee a schedule of more than 2,500 educational and networking events around one idea: improving the social media presence of various organizations and brands.
This week, hundreds of events have taken place in Chicago, where our offices are located, and several of our team members, including me, have been able to attend a number of the sessions.
If your city is participating, there's still a few days left of events to check out, and I encourage you to do so. If you're schedule doesn't allow, or you aren't lucky enough to have a host city near your, below I've shared some of the best social media guidance from our team here at Becker's.
Most hospitals and health systems today have some sort of social media presence, but not very many are truly optimizing these platforms to engage with current and potential patients, perform customer service and market their brand. For hospitals that are unsure if it's worth the resources to manage a social media presence, I'd say this: Your customers are already talking about you on social media, whether you engage with them or not. Wouldn't you prefer to be involved in that conversation, rather than unaware of it?
