A recent audit highlighted Wrangell (Alaska) Medical Center's financial problems and placed blame, in part, on the hospital's former CFO for issues in completing the audit on time, according to a Wrangell Sentinel report.
WMC has less than one month's operating funds on hand, the report reads.
WMC's previous CFO Dana Strong, who left in October, was partly blamed for issues in completing the audit on time, and the audit showed that "budgetary reconciliations throughout the year had not been completed as timely or as accurately as they should have been," according to the report.
According to the report, the hospital plans to cut unnecessary supplies, get rid of waste, where possible, and decrease the number of hours being put in by employees each week.
