Welborn Health Plans, a health insurer based in Evansville, Ind., announced it is exiting the employer group health insurance market in Indiana and Kentucky.
Welborn said it is leaving the market, effective Dec. 31, 2012, "because of changes in the insurance market and significant investments that would be needed to continue to provide high-quality services and products."
Welborn endorsed Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield for employers and employees looking to transition to new health plans. The parent organization of Anthem is WellPoint, which has a large swath of the Indiana market at 60 percent.
