Vermont Governor Appoints Members to Single-Payor Health Reform Board

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin has announced the committee members of the Green Mountain Care Board, the panel that will be in charge of setting up Vermont's single-payor healthcare system, according to an Associated Press/Boston Globe report.

Anya Rader Wallack, a healthcare policy specialist who has assisted the governor with the state's healthcare reform, will be the chairperson of the five-member board. The other four members of the committee are:

•    Al Gobeille, a local restaurant owner who is also a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association.
•    Karen Hein, MD, the former president of the William T. Grant Foundation.
•    Con Hogan, the former secretary of the Vermont Agency of Human Services.
•    Allan Ramsay, MD, a family physician.

The panel is slated to finish the task by 2014.
