USMD's Revenue More Than Doubled in 2013

USMD Holdings, a physician-led health system based in Irving, Texas, posted more than $234.7 million of net revenue in fiscal year 2013 — more than double its $105.7 million recorded in 2012.

The large boost in revenue stems directly from USMD's expansion, which took full effect in August 2013. USMD includes two physician-owned hospitals — USMD Hospital at Arlington (Texas) and USMD Hospital at Fort Worth (Texas) — as well as several cancer centers, imaging centers, diagnostic labs and physician clinics.

A vast majority of USMD's net patient revenue (69 percent) comes from privately insured patients, while Medicare represents about 29 percent of revenue. USMD's operating income in FY 2013 totaled almost $3 million, lower than last year's $12.2 million due to transitioning with more operating expenses.
