Richard Sobieray, CFO of the University of South Florida, will transition his efforts to advancing the university's partnership with Tampa General Hospital at an unspecified date, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported Oct. 20.
Mr. Sobieray, who previously served as CFO of USF Health, will work with USF Health and Tampa General to develop a "new funds flow model that will ensure our shared success," USF President Rhea Law said in an email to faculty.
Gerard Solis, senior vice president of legal affairs and chief strategy officer at USF, will take up Mr. Sobieray's responsibilities, Ms. Law said, according to the Journal. Darren Schumacher, MD, president and CEO of USF's Institute of Applied Engineering, will work with Mr. Solis and Ms. Law to manage the Responsibility Center Management budget model, which is set for a July 1 soft launch.
The leadership shift comes two months after Tampa General announced a $25 million gift to USF for a new football and lacrosse operations facility — the largest ever gift to USF Athletics. The investment, which will be spread over 10 years, will also support the opening of new behavioral health services in the community. The on-campus stadium was approved by the USF board in June and is expected to open in 2026.
