UnitedHealth Group Projects Big 2012 Earnings

UnitedHealth Group recently set a forecast of its 2012 gains, and it expects a long-term goal of 13 percent to 16 percent annual growth in earnings per share, according to a Reuters report.

UnitedHealth, the largest U.S. health insurer, also projected it would add up to 300,000 Medicare Advantage members next year. Its subsidiary, UnitedHealthcare, announced last week it will acquire Medicare Advantage company XLHealth Corp.

Overall, the group expects to add 790,000 to 1.5 million members in 2012, which would give the group a total of more than 35 million members, according to the report.
