United Medical Center in Washington, D.C., has received another multimillion-dollar cash infusion as a consulting firm looks to turnaround the struggling hospital, according to a Washington Post report.
The district has paid the hospital $11 million from the city's "contingency reserve," and all funds must be paid back within two fiscal years, according to the report. UMC requested a similar $15 million cash infusion in February 2012.
In March, Chicago-based consulting firm Huron Consulting Group took over UMC's operations as part of a two-year, $12.7 million contract. Since the mid-2000s, UMC has lost millions of dollars under several different owners.
