UCLA Health acquiring Los Angeles HCA hospital

Los Angeles-based UCLA Health's request to acquire Los Angeles-based West Hills Hospital and Medical Center has been authorized by the University of California Board of Regents.

UCLA Health's acquisition of the 260-bed hospital, which is part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare's Far West division, aims to address the academic health system's patient, emergency department and operating room capacity constraints, a spokesperson for UCLA Health said in a statement shared with Becker's.

UCLA Health is not disclosing the terms of the agreement, which is subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions, the UCLA Health spokesperson said. 

With 34,600 employees, UCLA Health comprises more than 270 clinics in Southern California and the Central Coast and has four medical centers: Los Angeles-based Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles-based UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital, UCLA Santa Monica (Calif.) Medical Center, and Los Angeles-based Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, according to its website
