Seguin-based Texas Lutheran University's nursing program received a $1.9 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration to sustain a project that expands BSN career opportunities for disadvantaged groups, according to the Seguin Gazette.
TLU's project, The Cambio Project, aims to encourage disadvantaged students to pursue nursing degrees through targeted outreach, pre-nursing preparation and financial support.
"The project is designed to recruit, enroll, retain, empower and graduate nursing students from disadvantaged backgrounds so these individuals can improve health equity within their communities through professional nursing practice," Kathie Aduddell, TLU's director of nursing, said a news release, according to the Seguin Gazette.
