Georgetown, S.C.-based Tidelands Health received the largest donation from private individuals in its history — a $1 million gift from a Washington state couple, according to South Strand News.
The record-setting gift was from Joe and Denise Harris, who live in the state of Washington but have strong ties to the Georgetown community. Mr. Harris is the founder, chairman and CEO of geologic, a company that offers data and software solutions.
Tidelands Health will name a new facility the Harris Center for Specialty Care to honor the donors.
"We are extremely grateful to Joe and Denise Harris for this gift, which provides important funding we’ll use to strengthen health and wellness within the community," said Bruce Bailey, president and CEO of Tidelands Health, according to South Strand News. "Since our health system’s inception, we have been blessed to benefit from strong private support, and the donation by Mr. and Mrs. Harris is an historic continuation of that tradition."
