Canandaigua, N.Y.-based Thompson Health received a $4 million pledge toward the construction of an $11 million intensive are unit at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, according to WHEC.
Here are four things to know.
1. The Sands Family Foundation and Constellation Brands, which is a beverage manufacturer ran by the Sands family, made the $4 million pledge to the hospital.
2. To honor the donors, the unit will be named The Constellation-Sands Intensive Care Unit.
3. Thompson Hospital currently has a seven-bed ICU. The revamped ICU will have 12 beds, which can care for an additional 250 to 300 patients per year, according to WHEC.
4. "This wonderful gift, the most recent in a long series of transformational commitments to our health system made by the Sands family and Constellation Brands, will ensure Thompson Health remains a full-service inpatient facility with the highest level of care available in a community hospital setting," said Thompson Health President and CEO Michael Stapleton, Jr.
