Working through "inconsistent and burdensome payer requirements to ensure our patients receive the necessary care prescribed" is one of the significant challenges Inspira Health Director of Revenue Cycle James O'Connell said his department is facing.
Mr. O'Connell told Becker's that the Mullica Hill, N.J.-based system "provides high-quality, patient-centered care as evidenced by our Leapfrog and other quality scores."
"We work very hard to simplify the insurance process for our patients," he said.
In June, Mr. O'Connell said maintaining staff was the greatest challenge facing hospital revenue cycle departments, but that outlook has since improved.
"While staffing remains a challenge at times, primarily due to the very tight labor market and the standards required to become a revenue cycle team member at Inspira, we have overcome this challenge by offering more flexibility for our staff and by attempting to streamline and automate many processes to help our people operate as efficiently as possible," he said.
