Ten parties have initiated 75 percent of all disputes involving out-of-network emergency and nonemergency items in services under the No Surprises Act's independent dispute resolution process, according to a recent CMS report.
Many of the top top parties were large management companies, medical practices or revenue cycle management companies representing hundreds of individual practices, providers or facilities, according to the report.
Here are the 10 companies that have initiated the most disputes to the IDR portal between April 15 and Sept. 30, 2022:
1. SCP Health — 28,196 disputes initiated (32 percent)
2. R1 RCM — 9,867 disputes initiated (11 percent)
3. LogixHealth — 6,737 disputes initiated (8 percent)
4. Rountable Medical Consultants — 4,789 disputes initiated (6 percent)
5. TeamHealth — 3,569 disputes initiated (4 percent)
6. Envision Healthcare — 2,798 disputes initiated (3 percent)
7. Providence Anesthesiology — 2,733 disputes initiated (3 percent)
8. Singleton Associates — 2,124 disputes initiated (2 percent)
9. Gryphon Healthcare — 2,030 disputes initiated (2 percent)
10. HCA Healthcare — 1,871 disputes initiated (2 percent)
