Central Hospital of Bowie (Texas) abruptly closed Feb. 4, according to The Bowie News.
A note informing patients of the closure was posted on the hospital doors just before 5 p.m.
Hospital staff were informed of the "temporary closure" moments before the sign was posted, according to the report.
The hospital was closed "so that we may have an opportunity to restructure our business," the sign on the door read.
In addition, the hospital said it is voluntarily returning its license to the appropriate regulatory bodies.
Two emergency medical services companies, Bowie EMS and Nocon Hospital EMS, were informed the hospital would be closing.
"We appreciate all those groups and individuals who have made it possible to care for our patients over the last few years, and we look forward to resuming activities as soon as possible," the notice on the door stated.
