Tennessee's Tennova, UnitedHealthcare Reach Contract Agreement

Knoxville, Tenn.-based Tennova Healthcare and health insurer UnitedHealthcare have agreed to a new contract that expands coverage to individual and employer-based health plans, according to a Knoxville News Sentinel report.

Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates announced it was purchasing Mercy Health Partners in July. HMA renamed Mercy to Tennova Healthcare in September and just named Michael W. Garfield as its division I vice president and market CEO.

Last year, Mercy and United were unable to reach a new agreement, the report said. The new contract is effective immediately.
