Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital's operating revenue increased 5.9 percent to $1.08 billion during its fiscal year 2014, which ended Sept. 30.

Due to a number of factors, including increases in discharges, emergency department visits and surgeries, Tampa General posted an operating surplus of $48.89 million for FY 2014, compared to the $31.36 million surplus it posted the prior year.

In addition, the hospital's operating margin increased to 4.5 percent from the 3.1 percent margin it reported in FY 2013.
