Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago received $4.6 million in Tax Increment Financing, approved by the city council, for its new Mayora Rosenberg Women's Health Center and emergency department upgrades.
The $8 million, 16,800-square-foot health center will be located on the hospital campus and will offer advanced treatments, such as private mammography suites with 3-D mammogram technology. It will also offer support for uninsured and underinsured patients as well as female staffing and women-only patient areas. The facility is slated to open in October.
The ED will be undergoing $10.4 million in upgrades, which will include the renovation of 27 trauma and examination rooms, pharmacy, nurse's station, waiting area and mechanical systems. The improvements are expected to be complete by spring 2016.
