A study by Louisiana's Department of Health and Hospitals found expanding the state's Medicaid program to an estimated 577,000 more residents could save the state as much as $368 million over the next 10 years, according to a report by the Associated Press/Bloomberg Businessweek.
Gov. Bobby Jindal, a staunch opponent of President Barack Obama's health reform law, which includes the optional Medicaid expansion, didn't widely publicize the results and didn't mention them at a recent budget hearing at which lawmakers asked for more details about the expansion and the governor's opposition to it.
