Silicon Valley startup Q Bio is attempting to offer "executive physicals," typically a part of in C-suite compensation packages, to a much broader audience, according to STAT.
Q Bio will offer 75-minute exams that will include an MRI scan and genetic analysis. The yearlong membership starts at $3,500, and there are more expensive, all-inclusive options available.
With its reimagined physical with genetic testing, Q Bio hopes to learn the "most valuable information we can collect about your body in as short a period of time as possible, as efficiently as possible and as noninvasively as possible," Jeffrey Kaditz, co-founder and CEO of Q Bio, told STAT.
Other major U.S. hospitals offer executive physical packages ranging from $1,700 to $10,000.
The most famous executive health program is from Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic. Its price tag varies based on age and family history.
Another company, Human Longevity, launched an in-depth physical at a price tag of $25,000.
"You can pay $20,000 and go to Mayo and spend a weekend there. But that’s not ever really going to be scalable," Mr. Kaditz said.
Q Bio said it wants its patients to pay a $3,500 membership fee to have annual exams so that their health and any genetic changes can be tracked over time.
The executive physical has been criticized for being expensive and not providing improved health benefits for patients.
