St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y. posted a loss of $8.2 million for its fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, down significantly from the $3.5 million surplus the system reported for the same period of last year, according to a hospital report.
St. Joseph's cited growth of $6.2 million in depreciation expenses and a an increase of $3.4 million in interest expenses on bond payments as the main reasons behind its loss.
However, even with the loss, the hospital is "in line" with its 2014 consolidated budget, according to the report.
