South Bay Hospital Undergoes $33M Expansion Project

South Bay Hospital of Sun City Center, Fla. — owned by Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America — is undergoing a $33 million renovation adding a new patient tower and catheterization lab, according to an article in The Tampa Tribune.

Construction of the catheterization lab began in June and the construction of the patient tower is set to begin later this year. The additions will bring South Bay Hospital's bed count to 138.

Renovations are also taking place on existing patient care areas to provide new flooring and finishes for an updated design, according to the article.

South Bay's last major project was in 2002 when HCA built a new emergency center costing almost $10 million.
