Sidney (Neb.) Regional Medical Center will soon build a new hospital, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture has helped finance the initiative with a $20 million loan, according to a Nebraska Radio Network report.
The loan, which comes from the USDA Community Facilities Program, will also be leveraged with a $20 million "rural development guarantee" with AgStar Financial Services and $9.8 million from the Cheyenne County Hospital Association, according to the report.
SRMC is more than 65 years old. With $40 million in direct and guarantee loans from the USDA, the new SRMC project will be the largest the USDA Rural Development has funded in Nebraska.
The USDA Community Facilities Program is one of six federal capital financing programs for hospitals.
