Austin, Texas-based Seton Healthcare Family held a symbolic groundbreaking for a $295 million teaching hospital.
The Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas will feature 211 beds. The hospital will replace University Medical Center Brackenridge, which was constructed in the 1970s. Seton has committed $245 million for the construction of the hospital and plans to raise $50 million in philanthropy.
The hospital is slated to open in 2017.
