S&P: 9 Statistics on Healthcare Economic Indices Through May 2012

Per capita costs of all healthcare services covered by Medicare and commercial insurers rose 6.05 percent year-over-year through May 2012, down slightly from last month's numbers, according to the Standard & Poor's Healthcare Economic Indices (pdf).

Last month, the year-over-year S&P Composite Index was 6.14 percent. The Hospital Index's annual growth rate feel to 5.56 percent in May 2012 from 5.77 percent last month.

Composite Index: 6.05 percent
Medicare Index: 2.52 percent
Commercial Index: 8.38 percent

Hospital Index: 5.56 percent
Hospital Medicare Index: 2.05 percent
Hospital Commercial Index: 8.38 percent

Professional Services Index: 6.27 percent
Professional Services Medicare Index: 2.89 percent
Professional Services Commercial Index: 7.99 percent
